Soprano and California native Nicole Yazolino is known for her clear, pure tone, and her well rounded voice with its easy, clean top. Her most recent stage and concert performances include Dido and Aeneas (First Witch) at Aspen Music Festival, Alcina (Oberto) under director Robin Guarino, de Falla’s El retablo de Maese Pedro (El Trujamán) with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, and the soprano soloist of the Bach Mass in B-minor. She made her opera debut in Robert Ward’s Roman Fever (Alida Slade). She has performed excerpts from The Rake’s Progress (Anne Trulove), Die Fledermaus (Adele), Tamerlano (Asteria), Gianni Schicchi (Nella), Idomeneo (Ilia), Semele (Semele), Rigoletto (Gilda), and Hänsel und Gretel (The Sandman).
Other concert repertoire performed includes Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians, Poulenc's Gloria, the chamber ensemble version of La bonne chanson, and Vaughan Williams' Along the Field.
Ms. Yazolino is an active recitalist and regularly performs solo art song and chamber ensemble music. She is an advocate and performer of contemporary concert music, and has commissioned and premiered a number of vocal works by up-and-coming composers such as J. Thorpe Buchanan and C. Sylvester.
Ms. Yazolino received her Master’s Degree in voice at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from San José State University. Ms. Yazolino is a proud alumna of the Aspen Music Festival and School, OperaWorks, and The Tyrolean Opera Program, as well as MusicX: New Music Festival and The Grandin Festival for Chamber Music.
Ms. Yazolino maintains an active voice studio and teaches singers of all different musical styles.
